On the Keizersgracht at number 141 in Amsterdam stands the canal house 'the Double Eagle,' also known as the South Africa House. A society and cultural center about South Africa and the Afrikaans language.

In 2015, the stately building underwent extensive renovation, and I traveled to South Africa with director Louise Tuin to make a film about the connections between the Netherlands and South Africa.

A bilingual production: 'De Navelstreng & Die Naelstring,' featuring Adriaan van Dis and Arnon Grunberg, among others.
